Description:
When you cannot decide between two interests, sometimes you just do both. The Cheapskate and Ohio is the result. This layout is primarily an O scale two rail layout with an embedded O gauge 3 rail Hi-rail layout. This allows the operation of both scale and collectible Lionel trains. Both layouts share the same scenery. The scale lower level reverse loop and staging yard are installed. The double track main line ascends to the main yard on the upper level, which is still under construction. O scale trackage is hand laid with super elevated curves. Benchwork is knee wall construction pioneered by Lorell Joiner. Layout is primarily plywood and Homabed at this stage, with scenery left to the imagination pending completion of track and wiring. Layout is presently operating under block control, with DCC planned. Rolling is primarily eastern with some Midwestern prototypes, and, of course, the C&O. There is a sub theme of having the two-rail scale version of the old Lionel engines, e.g. Hudson, GG-1, K-4, N&W J, trainmaster. You are invited to see a work in progress which is a marathon, not a sprint.
